Here in Seattle a lot of people tend to hit March and start making deals with nature to catch the tiniest glimpse of the mythical creature we know as the sun. Luckily, here at Dreamstate Audio we know the best music we've been playing (and enjoying thoroughly) to kick those Seattle winter blues to the curb. Pour a cup of coffee, pull on your favorite flannel, and jam out to these tunes that will sure to create a positive mood to last through the rest of this wretched winter into spring.
Hang in there, only a month left!
In no particular order, here's our list:
MIKA - Love Today
Not only does "Love Today" by MIKA help you love this day, the pretty melody just transports you to a sunny day; those of which we miss here in Seattle.
Katrina & The Waves - Walking on Sunshine
With a fun, upbeat punish beat of course we have to include "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina & The Waves likely stemmed from a sun deprived area in Canada of course the band had to create their own catchy, fun and smile inducing music. Wait, wait, wait we are totally speculating the reason they created this great song.. however still this is a must play to keep that sunny image afloat in the otherwise dreary Seattle weather.
Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
"I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas checks all of our happy music boxes. Can you dance to it? Absolutely. Doesn't everyone know the lyrics? You betcha. Is it catchy? Oh you better believe that will stick in your head all day, dusting away those cloudy Seattle cobwebs and replacing them with happy, feel good music.
The Doors - Light My Fire
"Light My Fire" by The Doors is iconic. This throwback will help you feel warm and cozy with smooth synths and literally hot lyrics (the fire). OKAY, we are being cheeky about the fire part... however this song will keep your coffee hot and your brain happy.
Portugal. The Man - Feel It Still
Ooooh we're rebels just for kicks... at least Portugal. The Man is in this fun track titled, "Feel It Still". This modern track that basically everyone has heard at least 30 times on the radio will keep you groovin' through the day.
George Michael - Faith
Some may consider Beyonce to be queen, but she still has nothing on our queen George Michael and his track titled, "Faith". May he forever rest in peace, especially knowing he will be helping approximately 9873249872 Seattlites beat the winter blues.
Ellie Goulding - Lights
This feel good pop classic called "Lights" by Ellie Goulding is another sing along that will have you forgetting about the cold mist Seattle calls rain. Jam out to this and let the world melt away!
Billie Joel - Uptown Girl
Nothing like this fun diddy by Billie Joel named "Uptown Girl" to get you in the groove. It's so upbeat and fun it will be stuck in your head for - ev- ver. But don't take our word for it, listen to it and dance your Seattle dread away!
No Doubt - Hella Good
Funky bass line? Check. Beautiful vocalist? DONE! Catchy chorus? OMG YES. This song by No Doubt will always have us feeling "Hella Good". Turn it up and just dance to this simple and seriously fun song, oh and maybe try it at your next karaoke outing, everyone is sure to sing along with you. :)
Krewella - Alive
"Alive" by Krewella will help you dance regardless of the time of day. One of the best EDM tracks is the best way to kick those Seattle winter blues. Come on make me feel alive Krewella... and coffee.
These are 10 songs off the top of our heads that we know are guarantee a smile and warrant dancing. Obviously there are so many other songs out there that inspire happiness and shake the Seattle weather foundation to the core, feel free to share those ideas with us!
